The pineapple pizza can come eat it’s own heart out. Made by our little cousin who likes to hide, this pizza decorated with apple slices is without a doubt the best.
1 recipe for homemade pizza dough
½ package (375 g) maple bacon
Olive oil
Garlic salt
½ vidalia onion, halved and thinly sliced
500 ml (2 cups) grated mozzarella cheese
2 medium Ambrosia apples (or other hard apple), thinly sliced
250 ml (1 cup) smoked gouda cheese, grated
1 sprig of fresh rosemary
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
Place the bacon slices on a large baking tray, then place in the oven and cook for about 10 minutes or until just crisp.
Place the bacon slices on absorbent paper and pat them dry to remove excess fat.
Roughly chop the bacon and set aside.
Adjust oven temperature to 260°C (500°F).
Spread the dough into two medium disks and place them on a well-greased baking sheet or baking rack.
Pour a thin drizzle of olive oil all over the surface (including the crust) and sprinkle with garlic salt to taste.
Spread the mozzarella, bacon, onions and apples over the dough and finish with the gouda cheese.
Lay the fresh rosemary on top.
Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes (if you have a pizza oven, preheat to 260°C (500°F) and bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown).
